Rendley and Cutforge solve the same problem the same way: the video editor runs in your user’s browser and the export renders on their machine, so you pay no render servers. The differences are in pricing, the engine and the feature set.
Pricing over three years
| Cutforge | Rendley SDK | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | €99/year (1 developer) | $150/month (Pro) |
| Team price | €399/year (up to 5 developers) | $150/month per domain (Pro), custom for more |
| What is limited | Number of developers | Live domains (Pro: 1 domain + 3 subdomains) |
| Three years, one product | €1,197 (team of 5) | $5,400 (one domain) |
| If you stop paying | Keep every version released while you were subscribed | Not stated on the pricing page |
With Cutforge, a second product, a staging domain or a white-label deployment for a client costs nothing extra. The license counts the developers building with it, not where it runs.
Engine
- Cutforge composites on WebGPU with a WebGL2 fallback, decodes and encodes with WebCodecs, and runs its timeline scheduler and audio processing in a Rust/WASM core. No Pixi, no Remotion, no FFmpeg.
- Rendley renders with WebGL in the browser and also offers a self-hosted server engine.
Where Rendley is ahead today
Be clear about this before you pick:
- Captions and subtitles. Cutforge does not have them yet.
- A library of WebGL transitions and effects. Cutforge has fades and crossfades. On color it is level: Cutforge has
.cubeLUT import, curves, exposure, temperature and tint. - Lottie and After Effects compositions.
- A server render path if you also need to render without a browser.
If those are must-haves this quarter, Rendley is the better fit.
Where Cutforge fits better
- You want a flat, published price that does not change with domains, users or render volume.
- You ship several products, environments or client deployments from one team.
- You need deep integration: theming, white-label branding, UI localization with right-to-left support, your own media library through
assetProvider, and hooks that can veto or rewrite imports and exports. - You want to evaluate without talking to anyone: the npm package is public and runs as a watermarked demo until you add a key.
