The short version: Cutforge’s editor runs entirely in your browser. Your video, audio, images, and projects are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored by us. We only handle the small amount of data needed to sell and validate licenses, described below.
This Privacy Policy explains how Maxence Leguéry, micro-entreprise, SIRET
99939314300014, 200 rue de la croix nivert, 75015, Paris, France (“we”, “us”, the “data controller”) processes
personal data in connection with the Cutforge website (cutforge.dev), the
hosted demo (app.cutforge.dev), and the license validation service
(license.cutforge.dev). Contact: maxence.leguery@gmail.com.
1. Editing is client-side — we don’t collect your content
The Cutforge editor decodes, edits, composites, and exports media locally in your browser (WebCodecs + WebGPU + WebAssembly). We do not receive, see, or store any media you import, any project you create, or any export you produce. Nothing is uploaded to a server for processing.
2. What we do process, and why
- Purchases. Payments are handled by our reseller / Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC), who acts as the seller of record and processes your payment and billing data under their privacy policy. We receive limited order data from them — your name, email address, purchased tier, and license key — to fulfil and support your purchase. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- License validation. When the SDK validates a key, our service (
license.cutforge.dev) receives the license key and returns its validity and tier. We keep a record linking key → tier → order/customer email for fulfilment, support, and anti-abuse. Legal basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud/abuse. - Server logs. Our hosting (the website, demo, and validation service) records standard technical logs (IP address, user-agent, timestamps) transiently for security and operation. We do not log license keys in our access logs. Legal basis: legitimate interest in security and reliability.
- Cookies / analytics. The website uses no third-party analytics and no advertising or tracking cookies. The hosted demo and editor may use your browser’s local storage to remember a license key and editor settings on your own device — this never leaves your browser.
3. What we do NOT do
We do not sell or rent personal data, do not use it for advertising, and do not profile you. We do not process the content you edit.
4. Sharing
We share data only with service providers who help us operate: Lemon Squeezy (payments / merchant of record) and our hosting provider (OVHcloud, servers located in France). They process data on our behalf or as independent controllers (Lemon Squeezy for the payment transaction) under their own terms. We may disclose data if required by law.
5. International transfers
Our website, demo, and validation service are hosted in the EU (France, OVHcloud). Lemon Squeezy is based in the United States; where it processes EU personal data, it relies on appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) as described in its privacy policy.
6. Retention
We keep license and order records for as long as your license is active and thereafter as required for legal, accounting, and tax purposes (in France, invoices are retained for up to 10 years). Technical logs are kept for a short period for security/operations. You can request earlier deletion of data that we are not legally required to retain.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, rectify, erase,
restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data
portability. To exercise these rights, email maxence.leguery@gmail.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority —
in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr). For data held by Lemon Squeezy as the
merchant of record, you may also contact them directly.
8. Children
Cutforge is a developer tool and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we hold (e.g., HTTPS everywhere, signed webhooks, secrets kept off the client). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy; the “Last updated” date reflects the latest version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
